There is no doubt that Sabre makes a quality product. During OC training, I took a full hit of Sabre Red. I was required to simulate protecting my sidearm against an attacker. The “attacker” was an instructor with a punch-pad, whom I had to fight off for 30 seconds before decontamination. I did NOT feel the heat of the pepper spray until about 25 seconds into the exercise, when the punch pad smeared the OC into the pores of my face. At that point the OC burned really bad (mostly on my skin). It took about a half hour to get the burning sensation to lessen. The point is, the spray was NOT instantaneous, I suspect from the fact that the higher ratio of the oleoresins tend to dilute the “heat” bearing capcaisinoid ingredients. And in a self-defense situation, you want it to work immediately! I like the fact that Sabre has 1.33% CRC’s, but it could have a higher SHU rating, and less oleoresins. I like the fact that with the Sabre Crossfire, you can spray the can from any angle, even upside-down.
